Effect of Purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) Ethanol Extract in Alloxan-induced Hyperglycemic Rats (Rattus novergicus L.) Blood Glucose Levels

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition which caused by insulin secretion disorder, resistance or both. High number of diabetics per year has led many researchers to conduct research find the most safe and effective medicine for DM treatment. Flavonoid are known act as inhibitors α-amylase parameter pancreatic damage help lower blood glucose levels. One source flavonoids purslane. The aim this study was examine effect purslane ethanol extract on levels in rat. Twenty rats Rattus novergicus L. strain Wistar divided into 5 groups; control, positive three test groups, each given 100 mg/kgBW, 200 300 mg/kgBW. Blood body weight were measured before alloxan induction, after well day- 7, 14, 21, 28; while feed drink consumption everyday starting with administration extract. carried out 28th day using enzymatic UV determination degradation product maltose method. analysis result showed that decreased group antioxidant content been shown have anti-diabetic effects repairing function.
